Symposium

Symposium is a semester class designed to be an interdisciplinary, project based experience focused on a particular theme. Students study the theme from a variety of angles, include from the lens of different subjects and then create a culminating project to critically analyze a problem and propose a solution.

Symposium is also designed to promote active citizenship and service in the curriculum and to help prepare students for the rigors of Senior Exhibition by providing students many opportunities to work on project based learning skills, including working with an Essential Question, developing projects that demonstrate particular skills, presentation skills and working with the community. Symposium is taught in two different ways: Humanities and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Students are required to take one Humanities and one STEM class during their Sophomore and/or Junior years.
