“As parents of 4 students enrolled in Kensington Woods, we see our children being given support in their challenges and their strengths are challenged. They are all growing into the kind of young men and women we want them to be.”

“The best thing about KWoods is the positive and welcoming atmosphere.  The students are fantastic.  They've chosen to be here and that makes a great difference in attitude.  The teachers and admin are supportive and down to earth.  I am happy to be here every day."

“Kensington Woods has transformed my daughter socially and academically. She struggled in the public school setting, The school was very large and the class sizes were overwhelming for her. Kensington Woods offers the smaller class sizes, with teachers who are nurturing and inspiring. The community is very welcoming and she has made a core group of friends whom she connects with both in school and out. I am very grateful for this school!”

“This school cares deeply about every student and sets each up for success. I pulled my son out of a large, private all-boys high school for him to attend KWoods. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. Because of Kensington Woods my son got the help he needed to achieve academic excellence, become a student leader, and have a lot of fun too. In the end he received academic scholarship offers from two colleges and an athletic one (which he took) as well. Don't think that a small school can't outshine the big ones? Kensington Woods can!”

“There is no comparison from public school to this wonderful charter school. Smaller class sizes and teachers who are invested in the self-esteem and growth of their students. Plenty of clubs, after school activities and sports. If you are looking for your child to succeed, feel cared about and motivated to be successful, KWoods is the difference.”

“Our daughter is a Junior at Kensington Woods. She transferred there mid-year from the public school setting in the midst of her struggles with anxiety and depression. The smaller class sizes allowed her to feel comfortable asking for help, and she made friends rather quickly. Her academic growth has been noteworthy. She went from being an average student who did what she needed to get by to an honors student who truly invests herself in her work. She has pride and ownership in her learning, and has great career aspirations as a result. I attribute this to Kensington Woods' commitment to the learning process, rather than simply meeting the benchmarks. Kensington Woods provides a variety of learning opportunities to appeal to every student. I have not seen my daughter so confident or joyful since she was a young child. I am forever grateful to Kensington Woods for giving our daughter the fresh start she needed her Freshman year. Now she is able to envision a future that is bright!”

“I think the most important thing about Kensington Woods is that they really value what the students think and are open to ideas that the students put forward.”

“I've never seen a school with "Individual guidance" like this school. My granddaughter is in the high school and is an exceptional student, mature beyond her age. She was given accelerated classes after testing during her Freshman year, was approved for some college courses her Sophomore year and nominated by a teacher for The National Young Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. (which she attended). She is excelling in classes through amazing teachers under the leadership of a remarkable principal. A counselor is readily available, for guidance, during those stressful teenage years. The school is big on demanding respect for not only the staff but for every student! This school CAN and DOES make a difference!”

"It's a place that the teachers truly care. When I asked a question it was answered in a way I could understand. They would stay late to help me. I was provided many tools to prepare me for college. I enjoyed being there and felt safe and cared about and went from hating school to wanting to be in school."

“My son is happy to go to school in the morning. He is doing well in all his classes, enjoys the work and the teachers. The staff have made learning fun and interesting and for that I am so very thankful. My son's high school experience is full of discussions where his thoughts actually matter and are taken into consideration. He feels like his voice is heard and that means so much to him and to me. I feel blessed that he has these wonderful people to look up to. Thank you to the entire staff at Kensington Woods you truly have made a difference in our lives.”

“Thank you for giving our students another choice for education-where our students aren't just a number and the teachers known our students by name.”

"The most important thing that I’ve learned while at KWS is that no matter what comes my way, I will be prepared for it and be able to work through the problem. This school has taught me to become more mature and in that process it has shaped me to become an adult in today’s society. I know that I can make a difference in the world because Kensington Woods laid the foundation for me to build a skyscraper of possibilities.”

“Our son was struggling to stay engaged and feel accepted at his old school. He feels welcome and accepted by his peers at Kensington Woods. He feels challenged, appreciated and respected by his teachers. He goes into school smiling, and comes out the same way. Also, thanks to the testing Kensington Woods uses to place students, he went from struggling in base curriculum to receiving high grades in advanced curriculum. The school's focus on encouraging responsibility and living up to one's potential has him completing homework on his own, and taking pride in his accomplishments.”

"The students aren't just a number, they are a person. The students and teachers all care a lot about each other. "

"KWoods was a place that made me feel accepted. In a large school I was never able to create my own identity; KWoods gave the environment to grown into a more confident individual. I will always be thankful for all the experiences KWoods gave me."

“We moved our daughter to KWoods when we found out she had been bullied at her old school. At KWoods she feels supported and safe, and she has made some wonderful friends - while getting a great education. The teachers work together to provide engaging and meaningful content. Overall, it's a wonderful place for her to finish her high school education and prepare for college. Our daughter has thrived at KWoods - both academically and socially. Thank you KWoods!”

"I came from a homeschooling environment and KWoods provided me with the same 1 on 1 and small class room sizes I was used to. That helped me stay comfortable. KWoods helped me prepare for college in a lot of ways, especially with the opportunity to travel abroad."

“All staff members care so much about our kids that they offer their time after school and during lunch to help kids stay caught up on their work. They go the extra mile even on weekends!”

“I love Kensington Woods! They truly give my child the KWoods difference. She is more confident, stays on task and her grades have improved drastically compared to how they once were when she attended her traditional public school. The small class sizes and dedication from the teachers makes all the difference! It feels like a family setting - like a community!”

“Through leading by example, the teachers at Kensington Woods taught me that the right things don’t always bring the fortune or the fame, but in the end brings the satisfaction of knowing that you have contributed to something greater than yourself.”

“Kensington Woods is a school that has helped my boys achieve higher than a public school. Passing with a 70% or better is a positive aspect, teaching them to work harder to pass. This has helped my oldest son achieve much better grades in college. Last winter, he had all A's! He knows what kind of work it takes to become a better student. I love that they have Project Term! Between my 2 boys, they have: section hiked the Appalachain Trail twice, both done cooking classes, taken tae kwon do, traveled around Michigan, in a Pure Michigan tour and many other interesting subjects that they would not have had at a public school. I really like that the parents are part of their child's education and that the teachers and staff know every child, regardless if they are in their class.”

“Kensington Woods is all about dedication to their students’ future. It has an excellent college preparatory curriculum in a small, intimate class setting with outstanding, caring, dedicated teachers. Kensington Woods is a small school with a very big heart. I am so happy I found Kensington Woods three years ago. Best decision I could have made.”

“Kensington Woods gave me confidence in my work and has shown me how much responsibility matters.”

"Kensington Woods has been a boon for my high school daughter. An additional unexpected bonus is  discovering through taking art classes there that she wants to pursue something in art as a career. Being able to take art on a daily basis has taught her much not only about art but about structuring her time, due to the demands and high expectations with her classes.  She has developed confidence in her abilities and discovered that she has academic strengths that she would not have known without having to test them in classroom settings.  I am very grateful for this experience for her."

"When Kensington Woods says they are a small personal high school, they mean it. The personal attention that I get from the administration and the teachers is a testament to how much these folks care about my daughter's education. She's never learned so much, advanced so quickly and enjoyed school so much as she does at Kensington Woods."

"Because of the smaller environment, you are not lost in the crowd and you form a connection with the teachers. Teachers are more tuned into what students need to help them succeed because of those connections."

"We weren't comfortable with the "big" school scene for our kids. My kids feel very safe and comfortable at KWoods. We wanted a school that would prepare our kids for college and still give individual attention. We have found that at Kensington Woods."

"Once I came to Open House, when I had the opportunity to speak with the teachers, I knew that this is where my son belonged.  He has grown so much this year as a young man, and I know that a lot of that is attributed to your school!  He has grown academically, he has opened up a lot socially...and I think the best thing of all that he has learned is that he can be himself!  I love that about the school ....I often sit while I am waiting for him after school and just watch the kids come out and most times I smile...I notice they seem happy....accepted....they are all different in their own little individual ways, and yet they seem to have a sort of peace about them.  Its as if being at this school has made them feel better about themselves too, I think you have given them the opportunity to have a place that gives them a chance to really find themselves and grow!"
